Congratulations to Triple P founder Professor Matt Sanders, who has been named a Queensland Great in the Queensland Government’s Queensland Greats Awards.

Professor Sanders was one of five individuals to receive the 2018 award, which recognises “the efforts and achievements of extraordinary people for their remarkable contribution to the history and development of our great state”.

Accepting his award from The Premier, Annastacia Palszczuk, Prof Sanders recalled how Triple P started out as his research project at the University of Queensland 40 years ago.

Since then, Triple P has grown into an entire system of programs which have helped more than 4 million children and their families in more than 25 countries. It is currently offered free to all parents and carers of children up to 16 years of age, thanks to a Queensland Government initiative to support families.

“It was a great honour and a humbling experience to receive this award. It reflects the commitment and hard work of a great team over many years in the Parenting and Family Support Centre and at Triple P International,“ said Prof Sanders.

Prof Sanders was also named Queenslander of the Year in 2007.
