Queensland parents will soon be able to go to their local Goodstart Early Learning Centres for free Triple P parenting support.

Early childhood educators from the 226 centres will be trained in Triple P – Positive Parenting Program seminars, which will be offered to the public.

Canadian early learning expert and Triple P provider Professor Shawna Lee is helping train Goodstart staff and said busy mums, dads and carers would soon be able to more easily get this world-renowned parenting support.

“Triple P is about giving parents a helping hand, whether they’ve got some small worries or are experiencing full-blown toddler tantrums and other challenging behaviours,” Professor Lee said.

“It’s about sharing practical tips and strategies that help parents give kids the best start in life.

“That’s a goal Triple P shares with Goodstart, which is why we’ve joined forces to make it as easy as possible for parents to get support close to home.”

Professor Lee said it made sense for early learning professionals to deliver Triple P seminars.

“Educators spend a lot of time with young children and understand more than anyone that challenges parents face juggling work and family commitments,” she said.

Goodstart Early Learning Queensland State Manager Lesley Jones said Goodstart has a strong focus on improving the wellbeing outcomes for children and families.

“We know that working together with families works best for children so we continually strive to strengthen the connections we have with our families across all our communities,” Ms Jones said.

“We also know that to deliver high quality early learning we must invest in the professional development of our educators. That’s why we place significant emphasis on research and collaboration, as you can see through our partnership with the Triple P program.”

Access to Triple P’s full range of group, individual and online support programs is currently free to Queensland parents and carers thanks to funding from the Queensland Government.
